Davis Wins New Contract
Davis Aircraft wins contract to develop tie down components for U.S. Marine heavy lift helicopter
Bohemia, NY—Jan, 2009 – Davis Aircraft Products Corporation announced today that it has been awarded the contract from DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: DRS) for the design and development of the cargo tie down components of the Internal Cargo Handling System for the CH-53K Heavy Lift Helicopter. The CH-53K Helicopter is under development by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) for the U.S. Marine Corps. The CH-53K helicopter is a dual-piloted, multi-engine, vertical take-off and landing aircraft that will provide the Marine Corps with improved heavy lift capability, reduced operating costs and state of the art interoperability.
Davis Aircraft will work as a subcontractor to DRS C3S on the CH-53K Helicopter System Development and Demonstration Phase, which includes engineering, design and fabrication of the titanium forged components of the cargo handling system. Davis Aircraft and DRS C3S will develop a variety of components, including floor plates, cargo rings, and other tie-down elements. All parts developed by Davis Aircraft will be made of highly durable, lightweight titanium and will utilize state-of-the-art methods for assembly and machining.
